A Sneak Peek of Visual Studio & Team Foundation Server 11
Microsoft’s application lifecycle management tooling is all about enabling teams to deliver great software. You will learn how to more effectively plan and track work by using the new web-based project management tools; how to bridge the divide between development and operations by utilizing IntelliTrace in your production environments; and how to help keep team members on-task and “in the zone”, no matter how much there’re randomized. See the new “My Work” experience for managing your active tasks and integrated code review features. In addition to making your team more productive, you will see how you can boost your overall code quality with new features such as code clone and an overhauled unit testing story in Visual Studio 11. With Team Foundation Server you will see the full gamut of collaboration improvements, from the newly revamped Team Explorer, to the version control & build improvements. Want to work offline seamlessly? Wish merging happened less frequently & was simpler when it did? How about find work items faster? Join us to see all this and more.

Speaker: Alan Stevens
Topic Description:

What is expertise? How do we tell who has it? How do we gain it? Why doesn't everyone get better with experience? These are the questions we will examine in this session. Along the way, we'll discuss writing COBOL in any language, Tiger Woods, mastery, comfort zones, the Zen of fast horses and why it takes ten thousand hours to become an expert. Join us as we take a big picture view of what it takes to get from where you are to where you want to be in your technical expertise.

Topic Description:

Join Timothy Paul Narron as we start from a simple overview and then explore some of the inner workings on LINQ to objects and the various underlying tools that enable it. LINQ is a great tool in software development but what exactly is it and where does it actually work well in maintainable software architecture? We will walk through a project evolution and explore some of the pros and cons of LINQ on maintenance and performance. We will identify when LINQ can help versus when it can hurt our software and in what ways. Along the way we will refresh ourselves on the key principals of good object oriented design. We will come away with a good understanding of a few new patterns, some great new tricks that go far beyond LINQ and some simple guidelines for effective LINQ usage. As a bonus we will get a simple explanation of Business Analysis concepts and a look at a reusable framework for building custom logic to perform Business Analysis on our own custom business entities. We will explore a lot together in a few hours and have some great fun doing it!

BE HELPFUL. That is the mission statement at teknetex. It is how we add value to the companies that allow us to serve them and to the professionals who trust us with their careers.
We understand that businesses are looking for a talent acquisition partner who does more than just matches acronyms on resumes to job requirements. Our clients need a talent acquisition partner who understands their business, and, as a result, can provide them with the unique and customized solutions they demand.
For us to be successful, it is critical that we learn about our client’s corporate structure, their products, their history, and their future. After all, the human capital solutions we provide will be a part of that history, and we have to get it right. It is not merely an exercise in resume volume to see what sticks, but rather a precisely targeted human capital solution that directly impacts our clients’ business.
Success also means that we understand all we can about the professionals who trust us with their careers. Beyond the requisite functional and technical aptitude, we always know what our candidates want to do – not just what they can do. This can occasionally be a fine line, but it is always a clear line – one that sets us apart.

Speaker: Wally McClure
Topic Description:

Come learn how to write native applications geared for the iPhone Platform based on .NET, C# and the Mono framework. We’ll examine the overall architecture of MonoTouch, discuss the IDE used for development, debug with MonoTouch, and look at a couple of example apps written with MonoTouch. iPhone development predominantly uses the ObjectiveC language, with code written using the XCode IDE. If you or your company has already made a significant investment in .NET, the time to learn ObjectiveC and the iPhone Mobile Platform is significant. So, come to this session to learn how to take your existing knowledge of .NET/C# and apply it to writing apps for the iPhone Platform using MonoTouch.
