Topic: LINQ in Context

Speaker: Timothy Narron
Topic Description:
Join Timothy Paul Narron as we start from a simple overview and then explore some of the inner workings on LINQ to objects and the various underlying tools that enable it. LINQ is a great tool in software development but what exactly is it and where does it actually work well in maintainable software architecture? We will walk through a project evolution and explore some of the pros and cons of LINQ on maintenance and performance. We will identify when LINQ can help versus when it can hurt our software and in what ways. Along the way we will refresh ourselves on the key principals of good object oriented design. We will come away with a good understanding of a few new patterns, some great new tricks that go far beyond LINQ and some simple guidelines for effective LINQ usage. As a bonus we will get a simple explanation of Business Analysis concepts and a look at a reusable framework for building custom logic to perform Business Analysis on our own custom business entities. We will explore a lot together in a few hours and have some great fun doing it!
